(New York) Toronto Raptors player Scottie Barnes has been added to the Eastern Conference team for the NBA All-Star Game.
Barnes and Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young will replace the 76 centerers Philadelphia forward Joel Embiid and New York Knicks wing Julius Randle, who are both injured.
Barnes was selected to play in the All-Star Game for the first time in his young three-year NBA career.
Barnes maintained per-game averages of 20.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.48 blocks and 1.24 steals in 50 games this season. He plays an average of 35.3 minutes per game.
He joined Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo as the only NBA players to have at least 1,000 points, 400 rebounds, 250 assists, 50 blocks and 50 steals this season.
The NBA All-Star Game will be held on February 18 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, home of the Indiana Pacers.
Young earned his third All-Star selection in six seasons, all with the Hawks.
He averages 27.3 points, 10.9 assists, 1.47 steals and 36.6 minutes of play in 45 games this season. Young had an NBA-high 490 assists this season and led that category the last two seasons.
Embiid (left lateral meniscus injury) and Randle (right shoulder dislocation) will not play in the All-Star Game after being selected as starters and reserves, respectively. Eastern Conference head coach Doc Rivers of the Bucks will select a reserve from his roster to replace Embiid as the starter.
