Around 8 a.m., Saturday February 3, a man attacked several people with knives at Gare de Lyon (Paris). Three victims were injured and the attacker was arrested.
In hall 3 of Gare de Lyon, located in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, on the morning of February 3, a man armed with a knife and a hammer targeted travelers. According to police headquarters, three people were injured, one seriously, before being treated by the emergency services. “Thank you to those who controlled the author of this unbearable act,” thanked the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, on X.
Psychological disorders
The attacker’s motives have yet to be determined. He was overpowered by passers-by before being neutralized by the SNCF railway police. Placed in police custody, the 32-year-old man is said to be of Malian nationality and would own an Italian residence permit, according to a police source. He appears to have psychological problems and no terrorist links have been established. For the moment, hall 3 of Lyon station remains closed by order of the prefecture.
