Montreal composer and DJ Patrick Holland, aka Project Pablo, is starting the year by cleaning out his hard drives. Infrastructure brings together sixteen compositions (including two collaborations, with colleagues CFCF and Unknown Mobile) accumulated since 2017, presented in a mixtape, literally and figuratively — the album is released in digital format and on a good old 4-track cassette. Fans of the musician, whose range stretches from dream pop to house garage via ambient and synth funk, will find the synth colors characteristic of his work as well as his airy touch and his rhythms which invite to the dances as much as the discreet nod of the head. And as a good DJ, his concern for ordering the musical selection well to take the listener on a journey makes the proposal shine, which begins energetically with hypnotic house Third Rail and vaguely retro groove dance Boot before moving towards the cozy atmospheres of Fried and deep house Hithertoconserving his strength to pick up the pace on the last third of the album.
