According to the UN, countries are behind on their commitments made during the Paris Agreement. The journalist Ben Barnier provides details, on the 19/20 set of France 3, Tuesday, October 26.
As COP26 approaches, the UN is putting pressure on States. All countries are behind on their commitments made six years ago during the Paris Agreement. The goal of limiting global warming is even more difficult to achieve today. “At the time, nearly 200 states had already committed to limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees. Today, the UN draws up a harsh report. If we want to achieve this, we will have to make seven times more efforts in terms of CO2 emissions“, reports the journalist Ben Barnier, present on the set of 19/20, Tuesday October 26.
Are there still any encouraging signs? “There is a major goal of the Paris Agreement that seems achievable, indicates the journalist. These are the 100 billion dollars per year to help developing countries, precisely to make their ecological transition: put electrical terminals for cars, insulate buildings.. ”
