Montreal Saint-Hubert Airport unveils its new brand identity on Thursday: it will henceforth bear the name Montreal Metropolitan Airport, with managers believing that this designation concretizes the transformation of the airport inaugurated in 1927 towards commercial aviation.
Montreal Metropolitan Airport will bear the abbreviation MET in order to promote recognition and accessibility of the brand.
Management also reports that construction of the new terminal is progressing quickly. Upon its planned opening in the summer of 2025, air carriers will serve all of Canada and, according to MET executives, it will be among Canada’s largest airports.
Management adds that Montreal will thus join the trend of large metropolises around the world which can benefit from several airports acting in a network in order to meet the air transport needs of populations.
In February 2023, the airport announced a partnership with carrier Porter Airlines to build a commercial terminal with an annual capacity of four million passengers. Montreal Metropolitan Airport believes that these investments of more than $200 million mark the starting point of a major transformation towards commercial aviation.
Montreal Metropolitan Airport reports that thanks to its 2.4 kilometer long main runway, it is able to accommodate the vast majority of commercial aircraft in Canada.
