Three years earlier, when their careers were just beginning, Sylvie Vartan and Claude François were already competing. “I never knew if it was true…”
The singer, who is about to do her last tour, at almost 80 years old, looked back on the highlights of her career in the weekly, and she remembered that a year after doing her first tour with Gilbert Bécaud, she was actually on the bill with Claude François of “The tour of idols. And the singer of “Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful!” would have been rude to her.
Indeed, Sylvie Vartan reports in the columns of Match : “It seems that Claude’s teams had my posters covered with his own before we arrived in the cities. I never knew if that was true…” An incriminating anecdote which adds to the many others that we have heard about Cloclo in recent years.
“Was Claude jealous of Johnny?”
And obviously, the competition was such that Claude François and Sylvie Vartan never really bonded… She thus assures that a relationship would simply have been impossible between them. Indeed, Sylvie Vartan believes: “He was four years older than me, which was a lot at the time.” The one who was already in a relationship with Johnny Hallyday also ensures that “anyway, Johnny wouldn’t have let it happen and I couldn’t be interested: I was madly in love with Johnny“. And to conclude, however, a little more sharply: “Afterwards, was Claude jealous of Johnny? Quite possible…“
