Around 4:30 a.m., on the night of Monday January 29 to Tuesday January 30, a fire broke out in a building in Marseille, in Bouches-du-Rhône. The toll is heavy with many injured and a seven-year-old child dead.
In Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), the violence of the fire blackened the facade of the building. Tuesday January 30, around 4:30 a.m., the fire started from a second floor apartment and spread into the stairwell. The firefighters arrived seven minutes later. The results are dramatic. Four children are in absolute emergency. Four other people are in relative emergency. A seven-year-old child died.
The mayor of Marseille visited the site
One of the residents of the building is still in shock. “It was impressive, it was scary”, she testifies. The mayor of Marseille, Benoit Payan, quickly went to the site. “It’s a tragedy for Marseille. Marseille is losing yet another one of its children”, did he declare. The origin of the disaster is still unknown, but the building was unsanitary with erratic electricity. The victims are still hospitalized.
