Former Minister Monique Jérôme-Forget calls out, in an open letter, the Minister responsible for Social Services, Lionel Carmantso that he meets women who have lost custody of their children after denouncing a context of domestic violence.
QUB radio revealed last week that several women who filed a complaint for domestic violence ultimately lost custody of their child, who was entrusted by the DPJ to the father who is the subject of the complaint.
The station has received nearly a hundred testimonies from mothers who are experiencing this situation in the greatest distress.
The letter from the former Liberal minister, published in our Make the difference section, is “a call for help” on behalf of these mothers.
“It seems to me that faced with this scourge, the least we could do would be to meet these women to hear what they have to say, because it is the despair that undermines them day after day,” writes Mme Jérôme-Forget.

Illogical reasoning
The DPJ justifies these decisions by invoking that these mothers are “alienating”, that is to say that they “engage in behaviors which influence the mind of the child in order to encourage in him the unjustified rejection of the ‘other parent,’ QUB reported.
In the eyes of the former politician, this reasoning is illogical.
“Contrary to common sense, the DPJ, in the cases which have been raised on the airwaves of QUB, decides to withdraw custody of children from mothers, to entrust it to violent fathers”, she is indignant in his missive.
Graduate in psychology, Mme Jérôme-Forget has difficulty explaining how professionals who work with children can make such decisions.
“The great danger is that women victims of domestic violence will give up turning to the DPJ in the future. I think, Minister, that you can and must correct this situation,” we can read in this same letter.
