(Moscow) At least three people were killed and three injured Monday in a Ukrainian strike on Donetsk, a large city in Donbass in the hands of the Russians, said the head of the Russian occupation of the region, Denis Pushilin.
“According to preliminary data, three people were killed as a result of enemy shelling of the Kalininskiy district of Donetsk with (Soviet multiple rocket launchers) Grad,” he said on Telegram.
According to the official, “three other civilians” were “slightly injured” in this attack which “damaged two residential buildings and at least three civilian infrastructures”.
In a video posted on social networks by a Russian television journalist, three inert bodies could be seen on the ground next to charred cars.
Next door, a building adorned with a Russian flag and that of the self-proclaimed Donetsk Republic (DNR) had its windows blown out on the ground floor.
Located about twenty kilometers from the front line, the city of Donetsk came under the control of pro-Russian separatists led by Moscow in 2014 and has since been regularly bombarded by the Ukrainian army.
On January 21, a strike, attributed to Ukraine by Moscow, on Donetsk left at least 27 dead and 25 injured, one of the heaviest tolls in this city since February 2022.
During New Year’s Eve, four people were killed in Donetsk and thirteen others injured, including journalists, according to regional authorities installed by Moscow.
On Russian territory, a woman was injured Monday in Mokraia Orlovka, near the border, by Ukrainian shellfire which damaged several houses, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on Telegram.
