(Vienna) Quebecer Félix Auge-Aliassime got off to a good start in the Vienna tournament on Tuesday, winning 6-3 and 6-2 ahead of Ricardas Berankis.
The Canadian is 12e in the world, the Lithuanian 99e.
Auger-Aliassime dominated 4-1 for the breakage, in addition to earning the five aces of the meeting.
In the second round, the Quebecer will face Cameron Norrie, who has just been crowned at Indian Wells. The Briton is ranked 14e in the world.
Auger-Aliassime was beaten from the start in his first two appearances in the Erste Bank Open.
Other big names have advanced on the board. Alexander Zverez defeated Filip Krajinovic, 6-2 and 7-5, while Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Grigor Dimitrov 7-6 (6) and 6-4.
Norwegian Casper Ruud signed a 50e gain this year, winning 7-5, 7-6 (2) ahead of Lloyd Harris of South Africa.
