Difficult road conditions could be the cause of an accident which cost the life of an elderly man in his sixties, Friday morning, in Estrie.
The tragedy occurred in a curve on Route 243, between Chemin Barker and Rue Wilfrid Est, in the municipality of Cleveland, not far from Sherbrooke.
According to authorities, the driver of the car veered out of his lane and into the opposite direction when a semi-trailer truck was approaching.
The truck driver was unable to avoid the impact, which was extremely brutal.
The driver of the car was taken to hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.
The truck driver was not injured, at least not seriously.
A portion of Route 243 was completely closed to traffic to allow a collision scene investigator from the Sûreté du Québec to establish the circumstances of the accident.
In all likelihood, the precarious road conditions could have played a role in the tragedy.
