New American series | Yanic Truesdale reunites with Gilmore Girls producers

Yanic Truesdale joins the cast ofStarthe new series from the producers of Gilmore Girlsreports Deadline.




The Quebec actor will play a recurring role alongside Luke Kirby, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Gideon Glick, Simon Callow, Lou de Laagence and David Alvarez.

Truesdale reunites with the Amy Sherman-Palladino-Daniel Palladino tandem after playing the snobbish and sarcastic concierge Michel Gerard for seven seasons of Gilmore Girls in the early 2000s, then four special episodes on Netflix in 2016.

Star will tell the story of two great ballet troupes, one in Paris, the other in New York, who take the risky gamble of exchanging their star dancers to save their respective institutions. Yanic Truesdale will play Raphaël, the right-hand man of Geneviève (Charlotte Gainsbourg), who runs the French company. Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino write, direct and produce this series intended for Prime Video, the Amazon platform. Two seasons have already been ordered.

On Instagram, Yanic Truesdale said he was “very excited” to reconnect with Amy Sherman-Palladino, whom he describes as his “artistic mother,” since she “gave birth to [sa] career in the United States. The actor also specified that he will spend four months in Paris for the filming ofStar.

This is a new US role for Yanic Truesdale after God’s Favorite Idiot (2022), The Catch (2017) and Curb Your Enthusiasm (2017). In Quebec, the actor starred in Guys with Christian Bégin, Normand Daneau and Alexis Martin for three seasons on ICI Télé.

Besides Gilmore GirlsAmy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino brought the hit series The Marvelous Mrs. Maiselwhich ended last spring on Prime Video.
