club forced to suspend ticket sales due to new anti-covid measures

As of Monday January 3, outdoor gatherings will be limited to 5,000 people. A valid gauge including in sports grounds. It therefore concerns football stadiums. The measure is, for the moment, announced for three weeks, until January 23 inclusive.

Monaco, January 9, and Lorient, 23

At the Nantes football club, two meetings at home are concerned: the reception in Monaco, on Sunday January 9, and that in Lorient, on Sunday January 23. “We suspended sales on Monday evening, as soon as the announcements were made insofar as the gauges of 5,000 for these two matches were largely exceeded. In Monaco, we expected between 25 and 30,000 people, so the impact and the damage for the club are really going to be important “, confided this Tuesday morning Benoît Guillou, ticketing director at FC Nantes.

Tickets will be refunded

And to add: “on such low gauges, we do not necessarily fit into our organizational costs. It depends on the way in which the public is distributed in the stadium, on what we have the right to do, etc. There is still a lot of things that we do not know about the protocols of the organization of the matches. “

FC Nantes know that they will have to tell some supporters not to come. A “selection” suspended from the protocols not yet known. “Depending on that, we will reluctantly make arbitrations. We hope to communicate with our supporters, subscribers, partners as soon as possible”, specifies Benoît Guillou. People who ultimately will not be able to access the stadium will of course be reimbursed.

Despite this constraint, Benoît Guillou admits it “We, like the players, prefer 5,000 people than a game behind closed doors, without anyone in the stands.”
