Natacha’s only dream is to become a mother. She has made a decision that will change her life: she is going to have a baby on her own, at 26 years old. That morning, she had an appointment at the Amiens University Hospital (Somme). “The desire to have a child is so strong and anchored in me forever that it couldn’t wait any longer”she confides. “I looked for someone a bit and in fact, I realized that I was looking for a father more than a companion.” She will benefit from PMA (medically assisted procreation), open to single women for a little over two years.
Many PMA requests are made by single women
Of the sperm donor, she only knows the skin color. The insemination will be carried out in a few minutes. “Half of the requests concern single women. They want to start a family, they want to do it independently. They don’t want to have the pressure of waiting to meet the right person”summarizes Professor Rosalie Cabry-Goubet, head of the reproductive medicine and biology department at Amiens University Hospital.
