A police officer and the driver he had stopped for a traffic violation had the scare of their lives when a cube truck hit their vehicles last Thursday.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Highway 20 eastbound, near Saint-Apollinaire, in Chaudière-Appalaches.
A police officer, who was still in his vehicle, had just pulled over to the side of the road behind the driver he had just intercepted.
A cube truck which was traveling eastbound, in the right lane, and which did not respect the safety corridor collided head-on with the two vehicles.
“The three vehicles were damaged, but no one involved was injured,” confirms the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), in a press release.
The image released by the police shows that the accident could have been much more serious. The truck driver received a fine of $322 and 4 demerit points for failing to comply with the safety corridor.
Speed and alcohol
Last Saturday, a 20-year-old driver from Quebec received a fine of $1,414 and 14 demerit points for excessive speed.
She was then traveling at 170 km/h on the Capitale highway westbound, near the Robert-Bourassa highway, around 1:30 a.m. His license was also suspended for 7 days.
For his part, a 26-year-old driver from Lévis had to surrender his license for three months for having rolled over on the Quebec Bridge, near Chemin Saint-Louis, around 2:30 a.m. Monday.
Suffering no serious injuries, he was taken directly to the police station, where he obtained alcohol test results above the legal limit.
