(Vancouver) The Arctic grip that has gripped much of western Canada is easing everywhere except northern Alberta, while a Pacific low pressure system brings snow to a large part of British Columbia.
Environment Canada has lifted most extreme cold warnings across the Prairies, but says the long period of extremely cold temperatures will continue in northern Alberta, with wind chill values near -40C.
The weather agency also issued snowfall warnings for most of the lower two-thirds of British Columbia, with 15 to 20 centimeters of snow forecast for Metro Vancouver and Greater Victoria.

In Atlantic Canada, most of New Brunswick is subject to a mix of forecast snowfall, winter storms and freezing rain, and Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador face a patchwork warnings of precipitation, winter storms and winds with gusts potentially reaching 140 kilometers per hour in some areas.
