(Montreal) The Montreal Alouettes extended the contract of offensive lineman Justin Lawrence until 2025 on Tuesday.
The six-foot-two, 310-pound athlete started every regular season game for the Alouettes in 2023.
During the Gray Cup game, he and his unit helped ensure that quarterback Cody Fajardo was able to complete three touchdown passes, among a total of 290 air yards. Montreal triumphed 28-24.
Lawrence joined the Alouettes in February 2023. He also won the Gray Cup in 2018 and 2022.
The 27-year-old from Edmonton was named to the 2022 East All-Star team with the Toronto Argonauts.
Drafted in the fifth round by the Stampeders in 2018, the former University of Alberta Golden Bears helped Calgary win the CFL championship in his rookie season. “Justin played an important role in protecting our quarterbacks. He has meshed well with our offensive line, said Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia.
“He understands our plays well and our running backs have had success with his blocks. We are happy that he is coming back with us.”
