In this new offering from Productions J (Double occupation, Survivor Quebec), Léane Labrèche-Dor, Fred Bastien and Meeker Guerrier tackle social issues by carrying out fun “missions”. Highlight this week: Meeker spends a day at work “menstruating,” using a device that mimics menstrual cramps. Spoiler alert: the facilitator removes the machine after wearing it for eight hours… at level 4 (on a scale of 8). For their part, Léane tries to overcome her phobia of ghosts with hypnosis, and Fred creates videos that tickle the brain, called oddly satisfying videos on the Internet. Rachid Badouri presents his one-man show The flowers of the carpet.
After Martin Matte in 2019 (Oh my!) and Mathieu Dufour in 2022 (Mathieu Dufour at the Bell Center), Rachid Badouri’s turn to have his own one-man show on Netflix. Filmed last July at the Olympia in Montreal, the performance of stand-up is part of the agreement that Netflix and Just for Laughs signed in 2023, which provides for the posting of three French-language comedy shows online over the next three years. In The flowers of the carpet, Badouri discusses in particular the intoxication of success, Islamophobia, homophobia and a very uncomfortable encounter. The vocal competition led by Charles Lafortune is back in action. To open this 10e entirely pre-recorded season, coaches France D’Amour, Corneille, Mario Pelchat and Roxane Bruneau surround themselves with a gospel choir and former candidates (Kevin Bazinet, Stéphanie St-Jean, etc.) to merge Can you hear me ? (Richard Séguin) and Stand by Me (Ben E. King). To follow during the blind auditions, a heavy metal singer who roars as well as he sings. Other details to highlight: the Battle Songs have disappeared, and none coach is not guaranteed to reach the final due to the arrival of crossed semi-finals, at the end of which the remaining candidates from the same team could be eliminated.
