Russia says it has neutralized several Ukrainian drones, a little girl injured

Russia claimed on Tuesday January 16 to have neutralized several Ukrainian drones during the night above its border regions with Ukraine, an attack which injured a little girl, according to local authorities. “Attempts by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks with aerial drones against sites on Russian territory were prevented overnight”explained the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“Five Ukrainian drones were destroyed and three more were intercepted over the Voronezh region and four more drones were intercepted over the Belgorod region”, both bordering Ukraine, according to the same source. A little girl born in 2013 was injured by debris from a downed drone, which fell on her building, said the governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev.

Drone attacks on Russian territory, very far from the Ukrainian front, have increased since last summer when kyiv launched a counter-offensive to liberate its occupied territories, which ultimately failed. At the end of December, Ukraine carried out an unprecedented bombing against Belgorod (western Russia), 50 km from the border, which killed 25 people.
