During a trip to a college in Yvelines, Friday January 12, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra declared that she had sent her children to private school because of “the number of hours not seriously replaced” in public education.
Friday January 12, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra made her first official visit alongside Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, to the Saint-Exupéry college in Andrésy (Yvelines). When a journalist asked the new Minister of National Education why her children were educated in private education, she responded by criticizing her experience in public school.
Teachers’ unions revolted
Amélie Oudéa-Castéra said she transferred her children to the private sector because of her “frustration” in front “packages of hours” public education “which were not seriously replaced” during teacher absences. His comments did not fail to provoke a reaction from left-wing political leaders. For the teaching unions, such clumsiness demonstrates a lack of control over National Education issues, even though the Minister must also manage the Sports portfolio and the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
