Fabienne Carat, Clara Morgane, Delphine Wespiser, Paul El Kharrat, Simon Castaldi and Jean-Marc Généreux went to the Corbara convent in Corsica to film a reality TV show. And even before the broadcast of “Welcome to the monastery”of which the first of 6 episodes, arrives this Friday January 12, 2024, at 9:10 p.m. on C8, it’s already a scandal.
The concept ?
Adaptation of the Dutch show “In search of God“, this program proposes to follow 6 personalities during a spiritual retreat – here with Catholics, even if the series is intended to be religious. They are required, during this one-week stay at the monastery to enter into “the great silence, without internet, without telephone, without chatter” as explained in the trailer
For this extraordinary experience that they agreed to live, the actress, the magazine leader, the former Miss France, Big Head, and the reality TV star mentioned above therefore agreed to cut themselves off from the world. They will be chaperoned on site by Sister Catherine Thiercelin and Brother Baudouin Ardillier. But will they manage to remain silent and follow the rules of the monastery? This is an other story.
If the concept of confinement may seem rather usual for a reality TV program, its intrinsically Christian aspect caused a lot of discomfort among our colleagues at Release.
