(Ottawa) Former NDP leader Ed Broadbent is dead. The Broadbent Institute that he founded made the announcement Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Broadbent was a federal MP for 21 years, including 14 as leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP). He was first elected in 1968.
