The head of American diplomacy was alongside the president of the Palestinian Authority on Wednesday January 10. On the agenda of this meeting was the post-war issue in Gaza. The opportunity for Antony Blinken, traveling in the Middle East, to reaffirm to Mahmoud Abbas that the United States supports tangible steps toward the creation of a Palestinian state.
“All the partners I met during this trip said they were ready to support a lasting solution that ends the long cycle of violence and guarantees Israel’s security. But they stressed that this can only be done in the framework of a regional approach providing for the creation of a Palestinian state”said Antony Blinken the day before from Tel Aviv (Israel).
Central and southern Gaza now targeted
The head of American diplomacy asks Israel to spare Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip. Israel is now targeting the center and south of the Palestinian enclave, where hundreds of thousands of civilians displaced by the war have gathered.
