John Carlson scored the game-winning goal with 53 seconds left in regulation and the Washington Capitals beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-3 on Sunday.
Quebecer Nicolas Aubé-Kubel scored a goal and two assists. Nic Dowd and Dylan Strome also scored for the Capitals.
Kevin Fiala scored twice for the Kings, who have lost five straight games. Adrian Kempe also made the red light sparkle.
Aubé-Kubel tied the game 3-3 with his fourth goal of the season, 8:36 into the third period. Carlson then scored the game-winning goal.
Dowd opened the scoring at the start of the second period, but Kempe and Fiala then found the back of the net and the Kings led 2-1.
Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery wanted to shake up his players and formed a trio of Alexander Ovechkin, Strome and Max Pacioretty. The strategy paid off, as Strome brought the two teams back to a tie.
Fiala gave the Kings one goal back after 1:01 of play in the third period.
Darcy Kuemper stopped 38 of 41 shots in the victory.
Cam Talbot blocked 30 shots for the Kings.

Blackhawks beat Flames 4-3

Colin Blackwell scored two goals and added an assist to help the Chicago Blackhawks win 4-3 against the Calgary Flames on Sunday.
The Blackhawks played their first game without rookie Connor Bedard, who suffered a broken jaw Friday, against the New Jersey Devils.
Nikita Zaitsev had a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks, who had lost five straight games. Philipp Kurashev also scored and Petr Mrazek stopped 28 shots.
Nazem Kadri scored two goals for the Flames. Andrew Mangiapane also hit the target and Quebecer Jonathan Huberdeau had two assists.
Blackwell opened the scoring with a good wrist shot at 4:32 in the first period. He made it 4-2 on a power play with 5:23 left in regulation. His shot beat Flames goaltender Dan Vladar on the glove side.
Kadri scored his 13e net of the season shortly after, but it was too late.
Mangiapane gave his team a 2-1 lead when his shot, during a power play, deflected off the skate of Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy and ended up in the back of the net.
