Guillain Méjane, 41, is accused of having embezzled several million euros by persuading families to invest in an investment fund located in Asia.

He was a well-born young man with incredible charm. He led a lavish lifestyle between Europe and Asia, where he had a high-risk investment fund, before everything collapsed. It all begins in the cozy world of good Angevin society, in Maine-et-Loire. Guillain Méjane created an investment fund, based on a system of loans promising double-digit returns. His partner, a childhood friend, opens his precious address book to him among the local nobility. The fund will never make a profit, the 16 million euros invested have disappeared.

He faces up to five years in prison

Among the 57 people who filed a complaint for fraud, one woman did not come from good Angevin society. Catherine Dedieu-Lugat met Guillain Méjane via his disability, in 2008. They then both participate in a reality TV show for candidates with disabilities. In fact, the young man was born without legs and with only one arm. A few years later, she entrusted her friend with the 24,000 euros in compensation she received from her insurance. She lost everything. Contacted, Guillain Méjane denies any fraud. He and his associate face up to five years in prison. Their trial opens Monday January 8.
