(Washington) Joe Biden will deliver his State of the Union speech on March 7, the traditional major general policy address by presidents to the American Congress, he announced on Saturday.
According to tradition, the American president accepted the invitation launched just before by the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson.
“At a time when our country faces challenges, it is my solemn duty to invite you to address a full session of Congress on Thursday, March 7, so that you may, as the Constitution requires, report on the State of the Union,” Mr. Johnson wrote.
“I can’t wait, Mr. Speaker,” Joe Biden responded on Saturday on X.
This speech will be of particular importance in this election year, the date chosen being two days after “Super Tuesday”, a crucial stage in the primary race to nominate the candidate of the two major parties in the presidential election.
The “State of the Union” usually takes place in the last weeks of January, or early February.
