The Laval Police Department intervened for nearly 12 hours with a madman in a home in the Laval-des-Rapides sector, an operation which caused a partial closure of Boulevard Laval.
Around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, a call was made to 911 regarding a 38-year-old man who barricaded himself in his home. When the police arrived within an hour of the report, the individual was making incoherent comments.
The individual surrendered shortly after 9 a.m., according to Laval police spokesperson Erika Landry. He was transported to a hospital to be evaluated.
The police evacuated neighboring homes and around fifty people were evacuated. The security perimeter erected is maintained in the area and investigators are trying to clarify this matter.
Boulevard Laval is still closed in both directions between de la Concorde and rue Dubé.
