A 38-year-old mother was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention on Wednesday January 3 for the murder of her neighbor, an 82-year-old retiree who had disappeared for two months, reports France Blue Périgord. The body of the octogenarian was found on Monday January 1, in his neighbor’s cellar, in Négrondes (Dordogne). The neighbor claims that he tried to rape her, that she pushed him away and that he fell. His 13-year-old daughter was also placed under assisted witness status.
The police then placed the entire family in police custody. The mother, her 13-year-old daughter, her 16-year-old son, and her partner who does not live there. But only the mother and her daughter were presented to the public prosecutor on Wednesday January 3, with a view to being prosecuted for murder, reports France Blue Périgord.
While in police custody, the thirty-year-old admitted to having hidden the body of the octogenarian, but swears that she did not want to kill him. The mother accuses the old man of having come to her house to have “touched her”, according to the prosecution. He would have fallen when she pushed him away. The old man’s head hit a piece of furniture, he never got up. The mother then moved the body to her home to place it in her cellar.
No criminal record
The children of the family were kept in police custody for two full days by investigators. Ultimately, the 16-year-old boy and the woman’s companion were released without prosecution. But investigators were much more suspicious of the 13-year-old girl. According to information from France Blue Périgord, she lied about her absence from college one day in October, the day her mother was suspected of having killed the retiree. A detail not sufficient to suspect her of complicity in murder, according to her lawyer, Me Félix Gluckstein, who denounces a “relentlessly” investigators.
The 13-year-old girl was finally placed under the status of assisted witness. His mother, on the other hand, was indicted on Wednesday for murder and placed in pre-trial detention. She has no criminal record, according to the Périgueux public prosecutor. The investigation was entrusted to an investigating judge from Périgueux.
