New restrictions imposed from today

It is today that the new sanitary restrictions concerning holiday gatherings in Quebec come into force.

Groupings are now limited to six or to people from just two family bubbles. This rule also applies to tables in restaurants in the province as of Sunday.

The only exceptions to the new health rules are wedding receptions and funerals, where up to 25 people are allowed.

The government suggests that Quebecers aged 60 and over – who are particularly at risk of ending up in hospital – stay at home as often as possible.

Wearing a mask, washing hands and social distancing at 2 meters are also encouraged.

The most recent report on the pandemic in Quebec, published on Saturday, reports 9,206 new cases of COVID-19.
