May the stars finally align in 2024 for a little more peace and collective wisdom.
Outside, armed conflicts, the planet on fire, the lack of water; outside, the lack of judgment of politicians and their thirst for power, wokism and its camouflaged intolerance; outside, the relentlessness against women and their demotion, slavery still imposed, poverty and lack of education for children. When will the end of human trafficking, the end of extremists and ultraconservatives, conspiracy theorists and terrorists? When will the imprisonment of political prisoners and the death penalty end? Outside, violence in all its forms.
Welcome to empathy, to political courage, to long-term vision. We wish for kindness, acceptance, openness and forgiveness; of utopia and clairvoyance; the return of ideology and above all of respect and nuances in judgment. A little more currents on the left and less centrism, often synonymous with disguised rightism. Let’s encourage projects for the most disadvantaged instead of condos for the rich. Roofs instead of tents. To conclude, less false humility and more humanity.
Too much to ask, do you think? Despite the inevitable pessimism and with even more hope, we should be able to reduce the gap, if not exclude it.
