“Significant resources are being deployed to find” a 17-year-old inmate who escaped on Sunday December 24, said Tuesday December 26 in a press release on X (formerly Twitter) the Annecy public prosecutor. 37 soldiers from the Haute-Savoie gendarmerie group were mobilized and carried out a sweep of the area concerned until nightfall. They are supported by a gendarmerie helicopter. A dog team is deployed as well as a thermal drone.
Incarcerated at the Bonneville remand center, he took advantage of a medical extraction to escape while he was taken, for a suspected fracture, to the Alpes-Léman hospital center in Contamine-sur-Arve on Sunday December 24 around 3 p.m. He took advantage of the opening of the sliding door of the van to flee. The Annecy public prosecutor’s office told France Bleu that the wanted minor is not armed and that he is not considered dangerous.
A flagrant investigation was opened by the Annecy public prosecutor’s office for escape and entrusted to the Bonneville gendarmerie company, jointly seized with the Chamonix research brigade. The accused, born in Tunisia, is under criminal arrest warrant as part of a judicial investigation opened at the Annecy criminal center for acts of armed robbery committed on December 8 in Sallanches in Haute-Savoie.
The Haute-Savoie gendarmerie published a call for witnesses on social networks. “Measuring approximately 176 cm, size 42, wearing a green Algeria jersey with black tracksuit bottoms. During his escape, he was wearing a wrist splint and handcuffed”, we can read. Anyone who has “information allowing him to be located” is invited to contact the gendarmerie on 0800 971 071.
