A 13-year-old teenager who was driving an off-road vehicle died Sunday evening following a collision in Coaticook, in Estrie.
Emergency services were called to Ladd’s Mills Road at approximately 5:45 p.m. for a report of a head-on collision between a pickup truck and an off-road vehicle.
“According to initial information, the off-road vehicle deviated from its lane and collided with a van traveling in the opposite direction,” said Ève Brochu-Joubert, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The two occupants of the pickup truck suffered no injuries, but the young driver of the off-road vehicle was transported to hospital with significant injuries, where he was pronounced dead.
A patrol officer trained in collision investigation from the SQ went to the scene to shed light on the circumstances of this event.
