(Madonna Di Campiglio) Marco Schwarz won the evening slalom at the Madonna di Campiglio World Cup to climb to the top of the discipline and general rankings.
The Austrian started from sixth place after the first round to finish with a combined time of one minute, 40.51 seconds, to beat the Olympic champion and leader after the initial round, the Frenchman Clément Noël, by 25 hundredths.
Briton Dave Ryding (1:40.90) took third place.
In the overall standings, Schwarz trailed two-time defending champion Marco Odermatt by eight points, 464 to 456 points. The Swiss does not, however, participate in the slaloms.
In Slalom, Schwarz beat his compatriot Manuel Feller, fifth on Friday.
Erik Read (1:42.87) was the best Canadian with a 25e place. Liam Wallace did not qualify for the second round, while Justin Alkier did not complete the first.
Henrik Kristoffersen, reigning world slalom champion and three-time winner of this race, finished sixth.
The slalom was the sixth of eight World Cup races held in Italy over 16 days. There is still one downhill and one super G in Bormio, next Thursday and Friday.
