This is what the office of the Minister of Education, Bernard Drainville, indicated to the Newspaper. The postponement dates will be announced “later”, it is specified.

Repeat exams were scheduled from January 9 in English, history, science and mathematics for the end of secondary school and in French and mathematics for the end of primary school.

High school students must try their luck again during these tests before submitting an application for admission to CEGEP, on 1er March.

The team of the Minister of Higher Education is in contact with the network on this subject, it is emphasized. “If necessary, adjustments are possible to ensure that the admissions of future college students are not delayed,” indicates Florence Plourde, Mr. Drainville’s press secretary.

The exams scheduled for January are postponed for reasons of fairness, it is indicated, since 368,000 students have been deprived of school since November 23 due to the indefinite general strike of the Autonomous Federation of Education, which still continues and affects 40% of students in the province.

For their part, students affected by the one-off Common Front strike days missed nine days of class, while those who attend private schools were not affected at all by the walkout.

However, there is no question for the moment of modifying the content or the weighting of the ministerial tests, which are worth 50% of the student’s final mark at the end of secondary school, indicates the office of Minister Drainville.

Modified school calendar?

In recent weeks, Mr. Drainville has also indicated that he has not ruled out the possibility of modifying the school calendar to resume school days missed due to the strike.

“We are still looking at all the options,” M simply indicated.me Plourde Tuesday.
