For holiday shopping, Canadians plan to spend nearly $900 on average, according to a survey from the Retail Council of Canada. This includes their purchases of food, alcohol and gifts.
Despite the slowdown in the economy and rising interest rates, their purchasing budget is up compared to last year. The average amount spent was just under $800.
However, this is a national average, and data varies from region to region. For example, Quebecers will be the most economical in the country. They plan to pay around $660.

- British Columbia: $860
- Manitoba and Saskatchewan: $770
- Quebec: $663
