Russian air defense claimed, Tuesday, December 19, to have shot down a drone during a new attack in the suburbs of Moscow, attributed to “kyiv diet”. Russian authorities did not specify whether the device was launched from Ukraine or from within Russia. “There is no damage or injuries at the scene of the falling debris”declared the mayor of the Russian capital on Telegram.

The Russian Defense Ministry added that the drone was shot down in the Odintsovo district, west of Moscow. A few minutes earlier, Moscow’s Vnukovo airport, in the same geographical area, declared that it was restricting air traffic without giving any explanation.

Ukraine has developed drones with a range of several hundred kilometers, but also ensures that devices are launched from Russian territory. Attacks far from the Ukrainian front increased during the summer, as kyiv launched a major counter-offensive to liberate its occupied territories. This has become bogged down and attacks by these devices loaded with explosives on Russian territory have become rarer.
