Loto-Québec will build a 200-room hotel on the site of the Montreal Casino. The new $150 million hotel should be able to welcome its first guests within two or three years.

Present at the announcement made Monday morning at the Montreal Casino in the company of the Minister of Tourism, Caroline Proulx, Mayor Valérie Plante was delighted with the construction of the future hotel, having received assurances that its architectural design would be careful.
However, voices were raised to denounce the project. Independent advisor and former member of Projet Montréal, Craig Sauvé, criticized the Plante administration for allowing the “privatization” and “commodification” of a public space and, at the same time, for contravening several elements of the plan. director of Jean-Drapeau Park.
