Briton Alex Batty, 17, disappeared in 2017. He reappeared on Thursday, December 14, on a road in Aude.
After six years of traveling between Spain, Morocco and the French Pyrenees, the young Englishman Alex Batty, who disappeared in 2017, has just resurfaced in Aude. He had spent four days and four nights walking alone towards Toulouse (Haute-Garonne). Thursday December 14, he attracted the attention of a delivery man, Fabien Accidini. “It was in a bit of a remote corner. He had a skateboard, a backpack and a flash. I told myself he was quite young, at 3 a.m., it’s a bit weird”he remembers.
In the car, the teenager confides to him that he was kidnapped by his mother and grandfather while he was living with his grandmother, and that he has lived in a spiritual community ever since. The teenager mentions in the community a “work on the ego, meditation, the non-existence of the real world and reincarnation”.
His mother was planning to go with him to Finland
He fled when his mother was planning to go with him to Finland. An investigation was opened by the British police. “Alex’s grandmother spoke to the young man in a video call yesterday, she is happy to recognize him. We have further checks to conduct once he returns to the UK”said Chris Sykes, deputy chief constable of Manchester (United Kingdom).
