This Thursday, December 14, 2023, the first instance trial between Hilona Gos and Julien Bert was held at the Aix-en-Provence judicial court, for domestic violence. A few hours after the hearing, during which the two influencers were present with their respective lawyers, the former candidate of the Princes of Love was sentenced by the court to a sentence of two years in prison, one year of which is suspended on probation. As we discover in the newspaper Var Matin, Julien Bert was also banned from managing a company for five years and from having contact with the complainant. A micro victory for Hilona Gos, currently pregnant with her first child with her new partner Paul-André.
Julien Bert, who has always denied this violence, said through his lawyer Maître Morgan Daudé-Maginot, that he intends to appeal. For me, the sentence is disproportionate and severe to the extent that the court followed the prosecution’s requisitions. “We have the impression of having been an example because Mr. Bert is very publicized” said the lawyer. And to add: “My client remains free since we are on probation. We note that at a time of media coverage of domestic violence, it is better to be a man than a woman. Because when Mr. Bert files a complaint for acts of violence, this remains unresolved.”
