The “potentially explosive devices” found Wednesday evening in an apartment building in the LaSalle borough are ultimately harmless, the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) announced.
“The members of the tactical intervention group carried out an analysis of three devices […] and these three devices are harmless. They were recovered for destruction,” said public relations agent Caroline Chèvrefils, of the SPVM.
She initially explained that the first police officers arriving on the scene had located the device outside, at the rear of the building. It “had been moved there by an occupant” of the building.
The call was made to 911 around 6:20 p.m. – the building in question is on George Street, not far from Bishop-Power Boulevard. There were no evacuations or injuries related to this event.
