“Hi it’s Sarah, what does it say?”
This Wednesday, December 13, your news podcast takes you to Dubai, where a proposed agreement was presented by the United Arab Emirates for a transition away from fossil fuels. This COP28 is therefore soon coming to an end, disrupted on Monday December 11 by Indian activist Licypriya Kangujam, 12 years old, who burst onto the stage of a conference. Despite her young age, Licypriya Kangujam is not her first action, some even see her as the new Greta Thunberg.
Here is the full video of my protest today disrupting the UN High Level Plenary Session of #COP28UAE. They detained me for over 30 minutes after this protest. My only crime- Asking to Phase Out Fossil Fuels, the top cause of climate crisis today. Now they kicked me out of COP28. pic.twitter.com/ToPIJ3K9zM

At the UN, the General Assembly voted on Tuesday evening, December 12, a resolution for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” in Gaza. A symbolic text, because it imposes no constraints, but which puts pressure on Israel and its primary support, the United States. Furthermore, Joe Biden publicly criticized for the first time the Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu, opposed to the two-state solution. Following the vote, the Israeli ambassador insisted on the need to blame Hamas.
The Champions League adventure is over for RC Lens! The Lensois still finished with a victory, 2 goals to 1 against Sevilla and qualified for the Europa League play-offs. On the other hand, PSG, which plays this Wednesday evening against Dortmund, must absolutely win to avoid being ejected from the competition… or else hope for a draw between the two other teams in the group, Newcastle and AC Milan.
