Philippe Juvin, Les Républicains (LR) MP for Hauts-de-Seine, explains that he voted for the motion to reject the immigration bill on Monday, December 11, to return to the Senate text. “We are not against immigration”
The French were in favor of this bill and requested a debate in the Assembly. However, Philippe Juvin affirms that he could not vote for this law. “We are not against immigration. We are for controlled and chosen immigration”, he assures. For him, this vote of rejection does not end the discussions. “In the text, there was the provision on the massive regularization of undocumented immigrants that we did not want”, details Philippe Juvin. He believes that the discussion in committee of the laws was not good for the Republicans. “They eliminated all of the provisions passed by the Senate”he concludes.
