80 individuals suspected of having committed child criminal acts were arrested in mainland France and overseas this week. Around ten of them are also suspected of rape of minors or sexual assault
A huge dragnet across the country. At the start of the week, 80 men were arrested, all suspected of possessing child pornography. The operation, carried out across 53 departments, is the largest ever carried out in France. Among the 80 people arrested, 51 were presented to a judge, 13 imprisoned and 38 placed under judicial supervision. Many repeat offenders and people working in contact with children are among those arrested.
At least five people summoned for a criminal hearing
For the association “La Voix de l’enfant”, child criminals are delinquents but also patients who must be treated. “When we go looking for photos of children, these are sexual deviances and it is important that there is support even beyond the sentence that can be pronounced if they are judged,” declared Martine Brousse, the president. Thousands of child pornography files were seized during the operation. At least five people have already been summoned for a criminal hearing.
