While the postponed OM-OL match had just kicked off on Wednesday December 6 at 9 p.m., the Professional Football League announced that Olympique Lyonnais supporters will be prohibited from traveling during the next match at outside their club. Some had been filmed making Nazi salutes and monkey expressions on October 29 at the Vélodrome stadium, on the sidelines of the meeting postponed due to the stone crushing of the Lyon bus.
The LFP disciplinary committee therefore decided to “closure for four matches, three of which are suspended, of the visitors’ area for the next matches played away by Olympique Lyonnais”. The body took into account “tangible elements provided by OL”including the club’s named complaints against identified supporters. This decision comes the day after the arrest of three Lyon supporters, placed in police custody in Marseille as part of the investigation opened by the Marseille prosecutor’s office for “provocation to racial hatred and racial insults“.
OL, whose fans were already banned from traveling to Marseille on Wednesday evening, will therefore travel to Monaco without fans on December 15.
