(Ottawa) Global Affairs Canada says two Canadians have died in Antigua.
The ministry did not provide further information about the deaths on the Caribbean island north of Guadeloupe, citing privacy concerns, but it says consular officials are providing assistance and are in touch. contact local authorities for more information.
Local media report that a Canadian woman and her child died in rough waters last week.

The Antigua and Barbuda Defense Force said in a press release that a 911 call was received on November 30 at approximately 6:45 a.m., regarding a woman and child entering the water at a rock formation known locally as “Devil’s Bridge”.
The statement said force members had to navigate rough waters before locating the bodies of the two people, as well as that of a “visibly distraught” man who survived.
Last April, another Canadian died in the same region. Authorities said in a news release that they found a “Caucasian man in his 60s” after a 911 caller said “a tourist fell off the Devil’s Bridge” on April 8.
At the time, Global Affairs Canada confirmed the death of a Canadian, but did not provide details, due to confidentiality.
