On social networks or in the media, the political class was moved by the knife attack which left one dead in Paris on Saturday, December 2 evening.
During the night, a few hours after the attack, the President of the Republic was one of the first to react: “I send all my condolences to the family and loved ones of the German national who died this evening during the terrorist attack in Paris”. But after the emotion, quickly comes the time for questions for the opposition. The president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, believes that the surveillance of S files is too lax: “How could a man on file, already convicted for planning an attack, be able to walk freely and armed on a Saturday evening in the streets of Paris?”
“We must stay united”
On the other hand, for La France insoumise, the tensions linked to the war in the Middle East should not be a pretext for a tightening of security policy: “I propose not to give general political significance to the unbearable actions of a person who is obviously unbalanced”, indicated Manuel Bompard. For his part, François Hollande, whose mandate was marked by attacks, called for unity: “In the face of Islamist terrorism, we must stay together, united”.
