The interview with Manuel Bompard at the microphone of Ruth Elkrief this Sunday, December 3, 2023 on LCI had unprecedented media coverage. The journalist and the rebellious MP had a heated exchange about the position her group adopts on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Annoyed by the questions and the insistence of the professional, Manuel Bompard came out of his hinges and quickly reframed her: “You have stated things that are totally false, madam., so I want to correct them here in front of everyone. The rebellious presidential candidate in turn pointed the finger “lies” by Ruth Elkrief, in a widely relayed tweet in which he did not hesitate to insult her: “Ruth Elkrief. Manipulative. If we don’t insult Muslims, this fanatic is indignant. What a shame ! Well done Manuel Bompard for the reply. Elkrief reduces all political life to his contempt for Muslims” said the politician. Attacks that Laurent Wauquiez strongly condemned: “Jean-Luc Mélenchon has decided to politically embody the new anti-Semitism. Probably out of pure electoral cynicism because he was previously an authentic Republican. It is all the more detestable.”
TF1 responds, Mélenchon responds five minutes later
Throughout the day of Sunday December 3, 2023, Ruth Elkrief was the target of violent insults, attacks and threats of from the worshipers of La France Insoumise. At the start of the evening, the TF1 group published a press release announcing its support for its cornered journalist: “The TF1 Group firmly supports Ruth Elkrief and strongly deplores the odious invectives and inappropriate insinuations to which she is the subject.” Jean-Luc Mélenchon was, unsurprisingly, quick to respond, accusing the TF1 group of defending people who, in his eyes, would be indefensible: “The TF1 group is wrong to support journalism based on accusations and obsessive invective against someone absent from the set who cannot respond.
