(Montreal) Part of Quebec will experience its first good snowfall of the season, starting midday Sunday, particularly in the south of the province.
Environment Canada is forecasting 15 to 20 centimeters of snow from Sunday to Monday morning, starting in the southernmost regions, before continuing its trajectory eastward.
Heavy snow is forecast in the Gatineau, Montreal and Laval regions, with an accumulation of 15 to 20 cm of snow and reduced visibility at times. Snow could fall at a rate of 2 to 3 cm per hour at its heaviest during the evening and night, according to Environment Canada.
There is even a risk of freezing rain Sunday afternoon and early evening near Gatineau.
Near Trois-Rivières, in Mauricie, we are talking about a total accumulation of nearly 15 cm, with precipitation starting Sunday evening.
Forecasts show less snow in the Quebec region, 5 to 10 cm, but northeast winds could cause problems with gusts of 30 km/h, or even 50 and 70 km/h near the river. Saint Laurent.
There could also be some snow and blowing snow in places Monday, with an additional accumulation of 2 to 4 cm.
A snow warning is however in effect for the Beauce region, where snow could leave a total accumulation of nearly 15 cm on Sunday evening and Monday. Rapid accumulation of snow could make travel difficult in some areas.
