The Nantes public prosecutor’s office announced during the night from Saturday to Sunday that despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, the 31-year-old man could not be saved.

The evening of December 2 was marked by drama, before the match on the 14th day of Ligue 1 between Nantes and Nice (1-0). A 31-year-old supporter of the Nantes Loire Brigade died after an altercation between fans of both camps. “Shortly before 8 p.m., several VTC vehicles carrying Nice supporters were attacked by supporters of FC Nantes while they were traveling on avenue de la gare de Saint-Joseph, in order to go to the Beaujoire stadium.explained the Nantes prosecutor’s office to franceinfo, during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
“During these events, in circumstances which remain to be determined, a 31-year-old man, a supporter of FC Nantes, collapsed. Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, the man could not be saved and died on the spot. The very first forensic investigations show that the victim has a wound in the back, which could correspond to a bladed weapon. These elements will naturally have to be refined during the autopsy which will be quickly carried out.”specifies the prosecution, which adds that hearings of witnesses are still in progress.
