(Stavanger) Ted-Jan Bloemen of Calgary won silver in the 10,000m at the Speed Skating World Cup on Saturday.
It was the first race of the season over this distance.
After two fourth places in the 5000 m, the Albertan reached the podium with a time of 13:12.33.
“I’m happy to stop the streak of fourth places,” said Bloemen. The race was really difficult. The ice cream was slow.
“I’m very happy with how things are going this season. I’m really looking forward to the second half of the season, hoping that I can reach a higher level in preparation for the Worlds at home in Calgary. »
Italian Davide Ghiotto prevailed in 13:02.71, while his compatriot Michele Malfatti finished third (13:12.89).
In the 500 m, Laurent Dubreuil of Lévis finished sixth while in the women’s 1500 m, Ivanie Blondin of Ottawa took seventh place.
The Stavanger World Cup will end on Sunday with the men’s 1500m, 500m and 5000m, for women, as well as the team sprint events.
